Doraville, GA — Made For Bigger, Inc. was named one of six honorees at Congressman Hank Johnson’s (GA-04) 2026 H.O.P.E. Awards Ceremony, held Saturday, August 22, at the Lou Walker Senior Center in Lithonia, closing out his 4th Annual Week of H.O.P.E.
The Week of H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Elevate), which centers around National Nonprofit Day, celebrates the nonprofit organizations, leaders, and volunteers working to improve lives across Georgia’s 4th Congressional District. Made For Bigger was honored alongside five other organizations: Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR), Habitat for Humanity DeKalb, Kids’-Doc-On-Wheels, Inc., Lady T’s Homeless Ministry, and Parent to Parent of Georgia (P2PGA).
Congressman Johnson praised all six of this year’s awardees as pillars of the community, noting that while their work touches people of every background, their impact on the district’s young people stands out as most profound.
“We are grateful for how far God has brought us, but we believe the greatest impact is still ahead,” said Dr. Gabriel Powell, Founder of Made For Bigger, Inc.
Since its founding in 2017, Made For Bigger has been dedicated to building the next generation of leaders across the Greater Atlanta community — through mentorship programs like Poised & Dapper and APEX Grit, monthly food drives, an annual school supply drive, and initiatives supporting physical health, mental health, and educational advancement. The recognition highlighted the impact of Poised & Dapper, Made For Bigger’s youth mentorship program, which has worked to instill confidence, character, and community connection in the young people it serves.
Being named among this year’s H.O.P.E. Award honorees places Made For Bigger alongside a growing list of nonprofits across the district recognized for their frontline impact — from youth development to community outreach — at a time when local nonprofits are increasingly relied upon to meet critical needs in their communities.
